Aluminum nitride is widely used in optoelectronics, for example, inductive layers in optical storage interfaces, electronic semiconductors as chip carriers with high thermal conductivity, and military applications.
An epitaxial stretching technique for AlN crystals is also used in the surface acoustic wave detectors due to the characteristics of the AlN piezoelectric effect. The detectors will be placed onto the silicon substrate. Only a few places are able to effectively make these thin films.
Aluminum nitride ceramics are strong in durability at room temperature as well as higher temperatures, a modest expansion coefficient, and good thermal conductivity. They are suitable as heat exchangers materials for structures that require high temperatures.
